After moving into the city for
a short term move and having a very uneventful 2004 season we finally
found a house with acreage in Bedford county. This is the first buck off
the new property. I had a couple of hours to hunt and walked about 200
yards from the house to a spot where I had found a scrape the week before.
This guy came by about 6:45. I grunted him in from about 75 yards. He came
downwind smelled me but did not spook. He then moved just a few yards and
turned broadside at 20 yards. The buck weighed 177 pounds before we
dressed it out. |

My next door neighbor Rich and
I went to our lease property in Brookneal and shot this bird about 7:15AM.
He gobbled a bunch off the roost and a bunch when he hit the ground. No
hens showed up so he decided he had enough waiting so he came to us.
22lbs 12oz, 1 1/16 spurs, 10 1/2
in beard. |

Here is the one I was waiting for. I
had hunted a property in the City of Lynchburg for about 6 years. I
always knew it held nice deer but all big deer are mostly nocturnal
and I think they are more so in the city. The rut does strange things
though. Shot this deer a 10:00 am. Has a total of nine points with an
inside spread of 21 7/8 inches.
More pictures of this
deer are HERE. |

Nice 8 point that I shot during
blackpowder season. I shot this deer from my famous "box
blind." That is my homemade wooden box at the back of my 7.5
acres. Just happens to be in the best funnel possible for that small
acreage. |

This turkey should come close
to the state record for this year. I had hunted this bird for 3 years and
my Dad is the one who finally shot it. Scored 78 1/16. 23lbs 12 oz, 10 3/4
beard, 1 5/8 spurs on both side. Update
- Took 1st for the Western Region This
turkey also placed NUMBER 1 in the state for 2003. |

The frustration deer. I shot
this deer late in November after experiencing several long treestand hunts
without seeing any deer. Normally I would not shoot this deer because next
year he would be nice. I just could not help myself. This deer just
happened to be on the receiving end of my "frustration." |

herself. Unfortunately the drag was all uphill but she handled
it. |
