There is a limited number of rooms available Please Note - We will NOT be arranging lodging in local runner's homes this year. PRE-RACE DINNER & BRIEFING: Friday night, 6:00-7:30 p.m. at Heritage Glass High School Cafeteria, an All-You-Can-Eat Pasta Dinner, FREE OF CHARGE TO RUNNERS ONLY (a meal ticket will be attached to your number). Meal tickets for all others will be available for $5 per person payable on Friday night. The race briefing will begin at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to come, eat and enjoy the fellowship. EXTRA T-SHIRTS AND SWEAT SHIRTS WILL BE ON SALE FRIDAY NIGHT. Upon receipt of your entry, directions to the pre-race meeting will be sent to you along with other pertinent race information. SATURDAY MORNING: Race participants will leave Lynchburg from the Heritage High School parking lot at 5:00 a.m. driving to the start of the race at the James River Visitor Center. It is about 30 miles to the start. The buses will bring you back to Heritage High School for the meal and awards ceremony on Saturday night. PLEASE NOTE: THERE IS NO TRANSPORTATION PROVIDED BACK TO THE START OF THE RACE.
STARTING TIME: 6:30 a.m. SHARP! You MUST CHECK-IN at the James River Visitor Center to be an official entrant or you can check in on the bus as you are traveling to the James River Visitors Center. NO RUNNERS WILL BE ALLOWED TO START EARLY!!! LOCATION: The race begins at the James River Visitor Center on the Blue Ridge Parkway (mile 63.6). The course proceeds to Montebello through the Blue Ridge Mountains. There is a net gain of 9000 ft. and a net loss of 7000 ft. The running surfaces consist of dirt roads, trails, and about 6 1/2 miles of pavement. AID STATIONS: Sixteen (16) aid stations will be manned at 2-4 mile intervals throughout the race. IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO BRING HANDLERS! CREW ACCESS: Crew access will be limited to the following aid stations: 2,4,5,8,10,12,13, & 14. The only place crews are allowed to drive on the race course itself is from aid station 12 to 13. CUT-OFF TIMES:

over the 12 hour pace, starting at aid station 10 (Long Mountain Wayside
26.9 miles) you must stop at that aid station.
There will be no time allowance from Long Mountain Wayside to the
finish. MOUNTAIN MAN/MOUNTAIN WOMAN AWARD: A special plaque will be presented to the top LOCAL MAN and WOMAN FINISHERS of the MMTR. These plaques will be engraved with the winner's name and will stay in their possession until the next MMTR. AWARDS: All entrants will receive a MMTR T-shirt or Sweat Shirt. All sub-twelve hour finishers will receive a special award. The first ten (10) male and first ten (10) female finishers will receive special awards. Special awards will also be presented to the first place male and female masters (40-49), grand masters (50-59), and super masters (60 and over), FASTEST FAT BOY and an official award for BEST BLOOD! NO AWARDS WILL BE MAILED. AWARDS CEREMONY & POST-RACE DINNER: To be held at Heritage High School cafeteria from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Saturday night. This will be a buffet meal catered by a local restaurant. I MUST GUARANTEE A SPECIFIC NUMBER PRIOR TO SATURDAY. Therefore, we are offering a discount price if tickets are purchased in advance. Advance tickets are $8 per person (if check is received by Monday, October 30). Tickets after this date and at the door are $10. (Because we have to guarantee numbers, the cost of the tickets are non-refundable.) Tickets will be attached to your race number. Shower facilities will be available at the finish and also at the Heritage High School Gymnasium. The awards ceremony itself will begin around 8:00 p.m. **For those runners still in town on Sunday morning (Nov.4) we will meet and eat breakfast together at the Golden Corral at 8:00 a.m. TRANSPORTATION: Because this is a point to point race, bus transportation is provided for the runners from Heritage High School in Lynchburg to the start and back to Heritage High School. FOR THE AWARDS CEREMONY. The buses will also meet you at aid station 10 (26.9 miles) and at the finish (Montebello). PLEASE NOTE: THERE IS NO TRANSPORTATION PROVIDED BACK TO THE START OF THE RACE. I highly recommend the use of the buses for those of you without handlers. SEATING IS LIMITED, so please enclose $5 for a bus ticket with your entry fee if you wish to utilize this transportation. Your bus ticket will be stapled to your race number, which you will pick up on Friday night.
