I have to say i usually don't write back to races i have done, but in
this case it is different. My name is Brian Loose and a month after my
2nd marathon a friend of mine Sandy talked me into coming down from Ct
to kill myself with her at your Holiday Lake Adventure,so of course i
said yes and added another friend to come with John.M
We arrived there fiday night to see many very thin people and felt out
of place.I felt fat next to most of them, and thought that maybe i
shouldn't be there.I was made to stand up when asked for first timers
and then i was called "sucker's sucker's",it was the i knew what i was
in for!
It was now race day, wondering of course what to wear,i picked short
tights and a thin top layer with my jacket, gloves ,and for the first
time in months i didn't need a hat.Sitting at the very dark start i
remind myself and john what we heard last night "run when you
are
supposed to and walk when you are supposed to and to save some for the
2nd half".We start it was a nice slow walk stop jog stop kinda of thing
for a few until it opened up.Everything was good and pretty until that
MUD!! It nearly ate my shoes.all i could say was oh my god over and
over! Is it always like this? Of course we even managed to add some lost
miles in there on the power lines(as if 34 wasn't enough for me).So then
we ran and ran and ran some more singing talking an laughing as we went
on.Our other friend Sandy had to drop out because of time problems.John
fell a couple of times and i almost fell into the stream crossing!!
I finished with John slower than thought but it didn't matter ,we did
something that i didn't think i could or should do!! I am still washing
of the mud but what an adventure!!! All i can say is where is the next
one??
